Kabaira Beach Hideaway’s menu is a fusion of Western, Chinese and traditional Papua New Guinean dishes. Meals are served in our Dining Room, where dishes are laid out buffet-style and guests serve themselves from the selection.

Breakfast - is continental with the additional (included) options of eggs, baked beans, fresh fruit, cereal and fresh filtered Goroka Coffee.

Lunch - can include Chow Mein, Fried Rice, Lamb Chops, Fried Chicken, Lasagne, Gazpacho, Slow-Cooked Pork, sandwiches, and salads made from fresh market produce.

Dinner – We have a wide range of dishes to cater for many tastes. Often there are stir-fry’s, stews and mild coconut curries, accompanied by sweet potato, rice and vegetables grown locally. We also have burger nights and vegetarian nights, and fresh fish when available.

Traditional Food

The staple Papua New Guinean diet is one of starchy root vegetables (sweet potato, taro, tapioca/cassava), rice, green leafy vegetables and fruit. When available, chicken, fish, pork or beef are also eaten.

Dietary Requirements

Our cooks can cater to vegetarians, and where possible, other dietary requirements can be met. Just ask us! Please advise any dietary requirements when booking.

Transfers & Vehicle Hire

Kabaira Beach Hideaway is:

Due to variable road conditions it can take up to an hour to drive to either Kokopo or Rabaul.
Tokua (Rabaul) Airport is an additional 15km (9 miles) from Kokopo township.
Transfers - We offer return transfers to either Rabaul, Kokopo or Tokua (Rabaul) Airport for K120 per person (K60 each way).

Vehicle Hire – car rental can be arranged with any of the following operators, with pick up at either the airport or in Kokopo.
